Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has taken notice of the assassination of Awami National Party (ANP) leader Maulana Khan Zeb and ordered the formation of a high-level inquiry commission to investigate the killing.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the inquiry commission will be formed under the Pakistan Commission of Inquiry Act, 2017. The commission will include one judge of the Supreme Court, who will review all aspects of the incident and identify those responsible.
The prime minister has directed the Ministry of Law and Justice to prepare the summary for the commission and present it before the federal cabinet for approval.
Maulana Khan Zeb was shot and killed in Khar, Bajaur, on July 10. The government has stated that the commission will ensure a fair, transparent, and impartial investigation into the case.
Authorities say the move reflects the government’s commitment to justice and accountability in high-profile political violence cases.
