Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday praised Syed Asim Munir for his pivotal role in helping the country navigate major national challenges and stabilize the economy, saying many issues could not have been resolved without his support.
Addressing a gathering, the prime minister said the leadership and cooperation of Field Marshal Asim Munir, who also serves as Chief of Army Staff, were crucial in tackling multiple state-level problems. He added that future generations would remember how unity and strong coordination helped the country overcome difficult times.
Shehbaz Sharif highlighted recent economic improvements, saying Pakistan’s economy has now moved out of crisis mode. He pointed to inflation falling to single digits, a reduction in the policy interest rate, and an increase in foreign exchange reserves as key indicators of stabilization. According to him, these developments have created the foundation for moving toward sustainable, long-term growth.
He said the government’s next focus is economic expansion, with policies aimed at boosting development, strengthening exports, and improving Pakistan’s position in the global economy. The prime minister added that the country’s international standing has improved as a result of greater economic stability.
Announcing a new incentive for exporters, Shehbaz Sharif said blue passports would be issued to award-winning exporters in recognition of their contribution to the national economy. He described the move as an important step to encourage trade and accelerate economic growth.
The prime minister also made remarks on regional issues, stating that Pakistan has succeeded diplomatically and strategically on the international stage. He said the country’s growing global credibility reflects the effectiveness of its national policies and partnerships, adding that continued progress would further strengthen Pakistan’s position in the years ahead.
