PM Shehbaz Orders Fast-Track Completion of Genco Auction Process

The Gencos are incurring losses in the electrical sector, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif ordered on Wednesday that the auction process be completed quickly.

According to specifics, the premier had emphasized that the Gencos bidding process should be live-streamed on the media, just like privatization. He also mandated that the smart meter installation be finished as soon as possible and that a report be filed right away.

PM Shehbaz made it apparent during a review meeting on ongoing changes in the energy sector in Islamabad on Wednesday that maintaining a steady supply of electricity to the people and businesses is a primary goal of these reforms.

The premier also mentioned that the federal government’s effort to solarize Balochistani tube wells has been finished, which will boost the agricultural output of the province.

In addition to directing the acceleration of the privatization process of electricity distribution businesses, PM Shehbaz noted that continued efforts are being made to develop affordable and ecologically friendly renewable energy projects.

The premier had directed that efforts to upgrade the nation’s electrical transmission and distribution infrastructure start as soon as possible and that the construction of EV charging stations be accelerated nationwide.

A briefing on current projects and reforms pertaining to the production, transmission, and distribution of power was also part of the conference.
