Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reiterated Pakistan’s firm commitment to fighting terrorism, calling it a serious threat to global peace. He expressed these views during an event in Islamabad held to celebrate the birthday of Britain’s King Charles III. The ceremony was organized by the British High Commission.
Speaking at the gathering, the prime minister said it was an honour to participate in the celebration of King Charles III, whom he described as a symbol of public service and global awareness. He praised the British monarch’s role in promoting unity among Commonwealth nations and encouraging cooperation across different regions.
The prime minister highlighted the long-standing partnership between Pakistan and the United Kingdom. He noted that more than two million people of Pakistani origin living in the UK are contributing to British society in various fields. He added that with British support, Pakistan has completed major development projects in education, healthcare, and skills training.
While addressing Pakistan’s security landscape, PM Shehbaz stressed that terrorism remains a worldwide challenge. He said Pakistan’s armed forces and its citizens are united in their resolve to defeat terrorism. He also stated that the country’s sacrifices reflect its dedication to international peace and stability.
Earlier at the event, British High Commissioner Jane Marriott expressed condolences over the recent terrorist attacks in Pakistan and reaffirmed the UK’s support for the Pakistani nation. She highlighted the deep and historic ties between the two countries, noting that 15 members of the British Parliament are of Pakistani origin.
The prime minister also appreciated Jane Marriott’s efforts in helping restore Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flights to the UK, calling it an important step toward improving bilateral travel and connectivity.
