PM Shehbaz revives laptop scheme; 100,000 devices on merit

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated the Youth Laptop Scheme 2025 on Thursday, pledging to distribute 100,000 laptops to students on merit across Pakistan.

Addressing the ceremony, the premier underscored the importance of advancing in artificial intelligence (AI) and technology education, revealing that Saudi Arabia has agreed to train millions of Pakistani students in AI and information technology. He added that trained Pakistani professionals will also participate in Saudi Vision 2030 projects and the FIFA World Cup.

Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed his government’s commitment to empowering youth through education, innovation, and digital skills, ensuring equal opportunities for both male and female students nationwide.

He expressed gratitude to Saudi Arabia for its cooperation in AI and IT development, highlighting that the initiative will prepare Pakistan’s youth to compete globally.

Paying tribute to the nation’s martyrs, PM Shehbaz urged young Pakistanis to uphold the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Iqbal, and to build a stronger, more progressive Pakistan.

Students receiving laptops celebrated the moment with excitement, expressing appreciation for the government’s efforts to invest in their future.
