PM Shehbaz set to address UNGA session in New York

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to arrive in the United States tomorrow on an official visit to attend the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly. He will be accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, along with other cabinet members, according to the Foreign Office.

During his visit, the prime minister will deliver an address at the UN General Assembly, where he is expected to highlight human rights violations in occupied Kashmir and Palestine. He will also draw attention to the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza, urging the international community to take urgent action. Other key points in his speech will include Pakistan’s stance on regional security, climate change, terrorism, and Islamophobia.

Shehbaz Sharif will also participate in several high-level meetings and events, including sessions of the UN Security Council, the Global Development Initiative, and climate-related discussions. The trip will also feature bilateral meetings with world leaders and senior UN officials to discuss issues of global concern.

Leaders from Islamic countries are scheduled to meet U.S. President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the UNGA session, with Shehbaz Sharif among the participants. Talks will focus on global and regional peace, security, and cooperation.

In his meetings, the prime minister is expected to raise matters of mutual interest, emphasizing Pakistan’s active role in the UN Security Council and its commitment to international peace and development.
