Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced on Monday that the government will invest heavily in the nation’s youth to force progress and development.

Speaking at an International Youth Day event organized by the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, PM Shehbaz Sharif announced that 1 million smartphones will be distributed to high-achieving students this year. The federal government is giving these smartphones as a gift to empower young people with modern tools for education.
The Prime Minister highlighted that with the right resources, Pakistan’s youth can lead the country to new levels of success. He shared his vision of using modern education, IT, and Artificial Intelligence to bring about meaningful change, similar to the improvements seen in China.
PM Shehbaz Sharif also highlighted the country’s ongoing struggles with debt and extreme poverty, stating that many people still face difficulties in meeting basic needs, such as arranging marriages for their daughters, while the elite enjoys considerable benefits.
Additionally, he announced that he would personally fund the education of 1,000 agricultural graduates in China to enhance agricultural production. Huawei has promised to train 200,000 young people in IT skills. The Prime Minister also plans to show a complete development plan for the country on August 14.
At the event, he launched several initiatives, including the Commonwealth Youth Alliance Secretariat in Islamabad, the Digital Learning Portal, the PM Green Youth Movement, and the AI for Youth Programme, which offers Intel-certified skills to young people.
