PM Takes Notice of Changes Made in RRR’s Original Route
Islamabad: According to news reports, Prime Minister Imran Khan took note of purported adjustments made to the Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) alignment that increased the project cost by PKR 25 billion and gave an unfair advantage to some private housing developments.

The RRR project is being launched under the direction of the Lahore Ring Road Authority, and the Project Management Unit (PMU) is operating under the direction of the divisional commissioner, according to RDA Director General (Retired) Captain Abdul Sattar Issani.
He did, however, add that RDA was in charge of creating economic zones along the Ring Road and held the record of land acquisition, even if those records have since been sealed.

The official also said that nine interchanges had been planned for the route, and that nine housing complexes had received free ownership of 500 kanals.
Also, five interchanges totaling PKR 7 billion will be funded by nearby housing developments, saving the government money and creating a win-win situation.
Prior to this, the Punjab government granted PKR 6.4 billion for the ring road phase-I and issued a land acquisition award.

Once the city commissioner was transferred, the divisional administration extended the deadline for tender submission for the massive road project to April 12.
