PMD Predicts More Heavy Monsoon Rainfall Across Pakistan
The Bay of Bengal regularly sends monsoon currents into the nation. The top regions of the nation are also being affected by a westerly trough that could linger for the next few days, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
Under its influence, rain/wind-thundershowers (with a few heavy to very heavy falls) are predicted for Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, Murree, Galliyat, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, Narowal, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Kasur, Mianwali, Sargodha, Khusab, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Sahiwal, Bahawalnagar, Okara, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Buner, Mansehra, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Kurram, Lakki Marwat, Kohat, Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu, Karak and Waziristan from 22nd to 26th July with occasional gaps.
From July 22 to 24, rain/wind-thundershower conditions are also predicted for Zhob, Sherani, Barkhan, Musakhel, Kohlu, Naseerabad, Jhal Magsi, Loralai, Ziarat, Mastung, Kalat, Khuzdar, Lasbella, Awaran, Kech, Panjgur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Multan, Khanewal, Bhakkar, Layyah.
From July 22 to July 26, intense rains could result in urban floods in low-lying parts of Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Gujranwala, and Lahore. They could also produce landslides in vulnerable regions including Murree, Galliyat, Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, and hilly parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Between July 22 and July 26, areas in Kashmir, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Manshera, Abbottabad, and Rawalpindi/Islamabad may experience flash floods, while Dera Ghazi Khan and nearby areas in northeastern Balochistan may experience a hill torrent on July 22 and 23.
