Police in Kohat have launched a major crackdown on illegal gold mining in different parts of the district under the supervision of District Police Officer Shehbaz Elahi.
According to police officials, operations were carried out in areas falling under several police stations across the district. During the raids, authorities seized heavy machinery and multiple vehicles that were being used for illegal mining activities.
Police said the action targeted locations where gold was being extracted without permission. The operation was conducted to stop unlawful mining and prevent further damage to local areas. Officials confirmed that legal action has been started against individuals involved in the illegal activities.
Illegal gold mining has been a repeated problem in several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where people use heavy equipment to extract gold from riverbeds and nearby areas without government approval.
Authorities have now increased enforcement efforts and directed district administrations to take strict legal steps against anyone found involved in illegal mining operations.
