In an effort to guarantee a seamless voting process, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has prepared a thorough plan for polling places as the anticipated general elections, set for February 8, 2024, draw near.
This strategy plan is intended to offer comprehensive insights into the allocation and classification of polling stations, encouraging informed participation and resolving any concerns well in advance of the election date, with approximately 92,000 polling stations planned for establishment nationally.
Shortly before the election, the complete polling plan will be made available to the public. It will provide voters a general idea of how the four provinces and the federal capital will be distributed in terms of voting places.
Depending on the security environment and past instances of electoral violence, the classification includes labels like regular, sensitive, or highly sensitive.

52,412 polling places will be set up in Punjab, the province with the largest population, for the upcoming elections. Six,040 of these have been classified as extremely sensitive, and 15,617 as sensitive. There will be 15,737 polling places in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, 4,726 of which are classified as extremely sensitive and 6,180 as sensitive. The proposal identifies 7,802 as extremely sensitive, 6,576 as sensitive, and 4,718 as standard polling places in Sindh. In addition, Balochistan will have 5,015 voting places.
The public has been guaranteed by the Election Commission that all facilities and security measures required to guarantee a free, fair, and transparent election process would be present at the polling places.
As per the Elections Act, 2017, candidates have been reminded of their legal need to end their campaigns by midnight on February 6. Lawbreakers risk facing legal repercussions if they disregard this deadline.
