Islamabad hiking trails closed on April 9 and 10 as security measures tighten

The Islamabad administration has announced the temporary closure of several popular hiking trails across the city on April 9 and 10 as part of ongoing security arrangements.

According to a notification issued by the District Magistrate’s office, Trail 2, Trail 3, Trail 4, Trail 5, and the hiking route behind Saidpur Village will remain closed to the public during this period.

Residents have been advised to avoid visiting these areas and cooperate with authorities.

The decision comes alongside a series of broader restrictions introduced in the federal capital. Local holidays have been declared for both days, while educational institutions have also been closed.

In addition, authorities have restricted the entry of heavy vehicles into Islamabad as part of traffic and security management plans.

These measures are linked to expected high-level official engagements in the capital later this week. Islamabad is preparing for what officials describe as a sensitive diplomatic period, with reports suggesting possible developments related to the US-Iran ceasefire and follow-up discussions.

So far, no extension of these restrictions has been announced beyond April 10. However, officials indicate that further decisions will depend on the evolving situation in the city.
