Following a court order, the bodies of the victims of the suspected honor killing in Quetta, Balochistan’s Degari area, were dug up from their graves, and a post-mortem revealed they had been shot several times.
The post-mortem examination of Bano Bibi and Ehsanullah Samalani showed that the woman was shot seven times and the man was shot nine times, which is how they died, according to Dr. Ayesha Faiz, a police surgeon at Civil Hospital Quetta. According to her, the horrific event happened on June 4.
13 people, including the tribal chief, were arrested.
A crackdown on persons suspected of involvement has been initiated by the Balochistan Police, who have filed a complaint. Thirteen suspects have been taken into custody thus far, including a close cousin of the female victim and Sherbaz Satakzai, the chosen tribe chief.
After Sherbaz Satakzai was brought before the Anti-Terrorism Court, he was placed under physical remand for one day and turned over to the Serious Crime Investigation Wing. In an effort to catch more accomplices, the police are still conducting raids.
CM promises justice
Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti of Balochistan vehemently denounced the murders, claiming that the victims were not husband and wife. He declared, “The state stands with the oppressed,” promising that justice will be done and that those responsible, regardless of their position or power, would be held accountable.
The High Court of Balochistan pays attention
Additionally, the Balochistan High Court has taken suo motu notice of the case and ordered the Inspector General of Police and the Additional Chief Secretary (Home) to produce a thorough report.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemns the killing
