Pakistan marked World Children’s Day 2025 with national messages from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari, both reaffirming the country’s commitment to protecting children’s rights and ensuring access to quality education.
This year’s celebrations revolve around the global theme My Day, My Rights, which focuses on child welfare, participation, and equal opportunity.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan is working closely with the international community to improve education, health, and protection for children. He highlighted that the country’s progress depends on the development of its younger generation and stressed that cooperation across all institutions is essential.
He noted that the government is implementing a wide strategy for children’s mental and physical development. Projects such as the Danish School system, support provided through the Benazir Income Support Program, and new scholarship initiatives were described as important steps. The prime minister also mentioned that the education emergency aims to ensure every child attends school, calling it the state’s primary responsibility.
President Asif Ali Zardari also shared a message, saying the protection of children’s rights is both a legal duty and a moral responsibility. He urged parents, civil groups, and the media to stay active in safeguarding children from exploitation and neglect.
He emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and highlighted that the Constitution guarantees fundamental rights to every child. According to the president, child protection units and service centers across the country are working to prevent abuse and support vulnerable children.
Both leaders reinforced the theme My Day, My Rights, stressing that children must be included in discussions that shape their lives. They said meaningful progress can only happen when the government, families, and society work together.
