President Praises IMF Programme for Stabilizing Pakistan’s Economy

ISLAMABAD – President Asif Ali Zardari on Friday acknowledged the positive role of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in stabilizing Pakistan’s economy, noting that the current loan programme is also paving the way for future economic growth.

The president made these remarks during a meeting with an IMF delegation led by Jihad Azour, Director of the Fund’s Middle East & Central Asia Department.

Zardari praised the IMF for supporting economic development in developing countries and expressed appreciation for its continued cooperation with Pakistan. He also commended the Finance Ministry for its reform efforts.

The IMF delegation expressed satisfaction with Pakistan’s progress on the reform agenda, citing improvements in inflation control, fiscal deficit reduction, and foreign exchange reserves.

The meeting was attended by Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, Senator Saleem Mandviwalla, and senior government officials.
