Quetta Gladiators delivered a resounding statement in the Pakistan Super League 2025, crushing Multan Sultans by 10 wickets in one of the most dominant performances of the season. The emphatic win not only elevated Quetta to second place in the standings but also virtually ended Multan’s already dim playoff hopes.

After being asked to bowl first, Quetta’s bowling unit showed no mercy. Multan Sultans crumbled to just 89 runs in 17 overs, marking their lowest total in PSL history. Only captain Mohammad Rizwan showed any resistance with a painstaking 44 off 44 deliveries, but lack of support from the rest of the lineup meant Multan never got going. Quetta’s Khurram Shahzad continued his brilliant form with figures of 4 for 23, while Faheem Ashraf and Mohammad Wasim Jr. contributed with two wickets apiece to dismantle the opposition.

Chasing a modest target of 90, Quetta’s openers Saud Shakeel and Finn Allen came out firing. The pair wasted no time, putting on a boundary-hitting clinic and sealing the chase in just 6.5 overs. Shakeel smashed 42 off 20 balls and Allen blazed his way to 45 off 21, hitting nine sixes between them. The clinical run chase is now among the quickest 10-wicket victories in PSL history.

With this dominant win, Quetta Gladiators now sit second on the points table with 8 points from 6 games and a healthy net run rate of 1.034. In contrast, Multan Sultans’ disastrous campaign continues, with just one win from seven matches and the worst net run rate in the league at -2.355.

The latest PSL 2025 standings show Islamabad United on top with a perfect 5-0 record and a net run rate of 2.342. Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings are tied at six points each but are separated by net run rate. Peshawar Zalmi stay in the hunt with four points, while Multan are mathematically out of the playoff race.

As PSL 2025 approaches its business end, every win, run, and over counts. Quetta’s massive boost in net run rate could play a decisive role in the final playoff equation, while Islamabad look to extend their unbeaten streak in the upcoming clash against Lahore Qalandars.
