The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has clarified Internet Issues in Pakistan. The ongoing internet slowdown in the country is mainly due to issues with two of the seven international submarine cables, SMW4 and AAE-1, that link Pakistan to the world.

The PTA mentioned that the fault in the SMW4 submarine cable is expected to be repaired by early October 2024. However, the AAE-1 submarine cable has already been fixed, which should help enhance the internet experience.

Last week, the PTA excused the Senate Standing Committee on IT and Telecom that VPNs had packed internet services in Pakistan. At that time, officials stated that one submarine cable would be fixed by August 27, 2024, while another cable issue would be resolved by October 2024.
