PTA Raids Illegal SIM Seller in Lahore

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) conducted an effective raid against a telecom franchise in Kot Addu. They took action in collaboration with the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Cyber Crime Circle, Lahore. The franchise was charged with issuing the unauthorized SIMs to the people.

At least 166 fingerprints, a mobile phone, and one laptop were recovered during the raid. These devices were captured by the FIA team to use as evidence against the franchise.

An FIR has been filed by the agency, and one person was immediately taken into custody. The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) is looking into the situation further. The PTA Zonal Office in Lahore complained to the FIA about the unauthorized activation of SIMs via the sales channel, which prompted this action.

This step demonstrates the authority’s commitment to eliminating the threat. Hence, it is an aspect of PTA’s ongoing initiatives to restrict the illegal issuance of SIM cards.
