In collaboration with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) conducted two successful raids in Sargodha as part of its ongoing efforts to combat the rife growth of illegal internet services.
In Rose Valley Society’s RB Block, the first raid took place, and in Mian Khan Road’s Burj-e-Umar Plaza, the second. Only one person was detained. A variety of illicit ISPs’ equipment, including switches, routers, laptops, antennae, etc., was also seized. These organizations were offering ISP services in Sargodha and the adjacent areas without a current PTA license.

In a statement, PTA claimed that the raids against illegal ISPs were successful because of ongoing oversight, dedication, and persistent efforts to stop the threat posed by such services, thereby reducing the loss to the national exchequer in terms of tax fraud and false revenue reporting.
To prevent abrupt service termination, the statement advised the general population to exclusively use telecom services from PTA-licensed providers. Here is a list of authorized operators.
