Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Shafi Jan, has clarified that there is currently no military or security operation underway in the Tirah Valley. He also outlined relief measures for displaced residents and expressed serious concerns over the health and treatment of the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

Speaking on Samaa TV’s programme Mere Sawal, Shafi Jan categorically rejected reports suggesting any active operation in Tirah Valley, saying the situation on the ground does not involve military action and urging people not to believe speculation.

He said the provincial government has already approved a Rs4 billion relief package for residents displaced from Tirah due to heavy snowfall and added that an additional Rs4 billion would be released if needed. Emphasizing transparency, he said the funds are being used properly and that even the current allocation is insufficient to fully address the needs of affected families.

Addressing questions about local consultations, Shafi Jan clarified that no jirga was held with the provincial administration. Instead, he said the jirga took place between local representatives and the Inspector General Frontier Corps (IGFC). He also dismissed claims that PTI had accused jirga members of being federal government agents.

Turning to the health of the PTI founder, Shafi Jan said the party has serious concerns over how medical treatment was handled. He stated that the founder was taken from jail to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences without informing family members. Although authorities said a medical examination would be conducted, the founder’s personal physician, who had traveled from Lahore, was not allowed to meet him.

He said the medical examination was carried out in secrecy, which has alarmed the party leadership. “Nothing is more important to us than the health of the PTI founder,” he said, questioning why access to the personal doctor was denied. He added that attempts to raise the matter with the Chief Justice were unsuccessful.

On the political front, Shafi Jan said PTI has no intention of blocking streets and stressed that public support remains firmly with the party. He claimed that around 200 PTI parliamentarians were present outside the Supreme Court during recent developments. He also said that if the party founder recovers, PTI workers and leaders are ready to face arrest.

Concluding his remarks, Shafi Jan once again stressed that no operation is taking place in Tirah Valley, urging the public to rely only on verified information and avoid misinformation.
