The Excise Department has executed new rules in Punjab requiring an online verification process for the registration of imported cars. This step is designed to ensure the authenticity of vehicle documents and prevent the use of fake paperwork.

As per the new policy, imported cars can only be registered in Lahore and across Punjab if their documents have been verified online in advance. The department has formally requested customs authorities to provide access to their online verification systems for this goal, aiming to streamline the registration process and ensure that only vehicles with fair documentation are approved.

Additionally, customs officials have highlighted that vehicles acquired through auctions will also require verification before registration, a standard intended to combat the illegal registration of cars with generated documents.
