Punjab Approves New Simpler Process on Car Ownership Transfer
To better serve the public, the Punjab Cabinet has adopted measures to streamline car ownership transfers.
The changes, which were made after discussing with the Motor Dealers Association, are meant to make the car transfer procedure simpler. According to a spokesman for the Excise Department, this modification will streamline the administrative requirements and speed up the car transfer process.

The spokesperson clarified that only the seller will submit an application for a biometric transfer following the transaction. The buyer must complete biometric verification within 30 days after making the payment. The penalty for non-compliance during the period is Rs. 10,000 per month.
The changes also allow for flexibility in transfer documentation. Ownership can be transferred using both the inheritance certificate and the family certificate issued by the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA). To enforce the new laws, the Excise Department has established fines.

A new verification and the full penalty are necessary if the biometric verification is not finished within 120 days. This action, according to the spokeswoman, will also help to guarantee operational effectiveness.
