The Punjab provincial administration has made it illegal for cars to enter motorways and highways without valid route permits and fitness certifications.
To implement the restriction, the administration signed a contract with the National Highways and Motorway Police in the presence of Caretaker Chief Minister Moshin Naqvi.
The Motorway Police and the Punjab Transport Department are required by the agreement to exchange information regarding route permits and vehicle fitness.

Furthermore, the two departments will designate focal points to supervise information sharing and guarantee rule compliance.
The agreement is a component of Punjab’s provincial government’s smog reduction initiatives. CM Moshin Naqvi praised the environmentally beneficial effort during his speech.
He made a significant announcement, offering unregistered Chingchi rickshaw owners a month to register their cars for free. Unregistered rickshaws will then be prohibited from using the roadways, he continued.
Additionally, the National Highway Authority has endorsed the creation of a trauma center along the Lahore-Islamabad M2 Motorway, according to the caretaker CM.
