Punjab Chief Minister Launches Crackdown on Soaring Chicken Prices

LAHORE (Web Desk) – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has expressed deep concern over the recent increase in chicken prices and has ordered urgent measures to stabilize rates across the province, especially ahead of Eid-ul-Azha 2025.

During a high-level meeting held in Lahore, CM Maryam directed the concerned departments to take strict action against price manipulation and hoarding. She emphasized that the Punjab government will not allow artificial inflation to burden the public during the festive season.

Strict Monitoring of Chicken and Vegetable Prices

The Chief Minister stressed the need for daily monitoring of essential food items, including:

  • Chicken
  • Tomatoes
  • Onions
  • Garlic
  • Ginger
  • Green chilies
  • Lemons

She warned that any unjustified hike in prices will be dealt with firmly, and violators will face legal consequences.

Action on Roti Prices and Agriculture Reforms

CM Maryam also addressed the price of roti (bread), directing officials to bring it down following the recent drop in flour prices. Additionally, she instructed the Agriculture Department to:

  • Reduce transportation costs of vegetables
  • Promote the cultivation of off-season vegetables
  • Introduce a practical pricing strategy for the local market

Punjab Government Committed to Curbing Inflation

With Eid-ul-Azha around the corner, the Punjab government is stepping up efforts to ensure affordable food prices for citizens. The administration is focused on price control, market transparency, and consumer protection, aiming to curb inflation and support household budgets during the holiday season.
