Class 8 board examinations in government schools across Punjab will resume in the second week of March under the supervision of the Punjab Education, Curriculum, Training, and Assessment Authority.

For the first time, answer sheets will be assessed through a computerized marking system. Officials said the results will be announced on March 31.

The examinations will span two to three days and will cover four core subjects: Urdu, English, Mathematics, and Social Studies. The Punjab government has allocated Rs. 1.6 billion to conduct the exams.

The authority has also issued standard operating procedures for examination arrangements. School heads will serve as resident inspectors, senior teachers will act as superintendents, and primary and elementary teachers will perform duties as test administrators.

Staff for each examination center will be selected through an online system to ensure transparency. Meanwhile, schools will conduct examinations for the remaining subjects internally.

Punjab had previously introduced Class 8 board examinations under the Punjab Examination Commission. However, the system was discontinued after five years, and the commission was dissolved. Following a seven-year gap, the provincial government has reinstated the exams under the newly established authority.
