Punjab Considering Setting up Leh Nullah Development Authority
Rawalpindi: The Punjab government intends to establish the Leh Nullah Development Authority (LNDA) to address the monsoon flooding issue and develop the catchment areas.

On the provincial government’s orders, the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) drafted the LNDA Act and forwarded it to Lahore for approval.
Another top RDA official stated that the Leh Nullah Expressway and Flood Channel PC-I had also been completed and sent to the Planning and Development Board of Punjab for approval.
Moreover, on July 4, the Punjab Working Development Party (PWDP) approved the establishment of the Project Management Unit (PMU) for the Rs65 billion Leh Expressway and Flood Channel Project and requested that the RDA initiate a feasibility study for the urban regeneration along the nullah.

The whole length of the Leh Nullah Expressway will be 16.5 kilometers. There are up to 1,604 dwellings in the proposed expressway’s right-of-way, and 1,279 kanals must be acquired: 1,035.98 kanals of private land, 132.40 kanals of land owned by Military Engineering and Works, 54.72 kanals of Chaklala Cantonment Board, and 56 kanals of Rawalpindi Cantonment Board.
