Caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab, Mohsin Naqvi, has announced a novel plan to give home plots to photographers, videographers, and journalists, along with a 15% quota set aside for them.
For the first time in Punjabi history, Naqvi said during a ceremony on Sunday at the CM Office that 3,300 residential plots would be distributed to reporters, photographers, cameramen, and other journalists via an open voting procedure.
Cameramen and photographers will obtain 3-marla residential plots. They will receive that through an open and transparent balloting process. On the other hand, reporters will receive 7-marla residential plots in this innovative step. Monday, January 22nd, we will see the release of an advertisement that will include the requirements for obtaining the plots.

The journalism community will receive information from the Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) about how to obtain these plots. As the current government approaches its one-year anniversary, Naqvi noted that journalists in several places have continued to call for significant steps to improve their well-being.
He said, ‘The journalist community always asks me to handle their problems effectively wherever I go. By giving our fellow journalists a workable answer today, we have fulfilled our promise to them.
Naqvi recognized the reality that many journalists have low-key lives and struggle to make ends meet. He underlined how important housing is for journalists, calling attention to the fact that it is a basic necessity throughout Punjab, including Lahore.
