The Punjab Government held its 11th cabinet meeting for Solar Panels approval, chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, and made significant decisions impacting residents, education, and the environment.

To tackle rising electricity bills, a considerable initiative was announced: providing solar power solutions to 4.5 million consumers who use up to 500 units of electricity. This aims to offer a sustainable alternative and address public anxiety.
Beyond the solar panel program, the cabinet approved standardizing the printing of the Holy Quran, tasking the University of Health Sciences with conducting the MD CAT 2024 exam and implementing a new method for appointing educational leaders. Additionally, they canceled the two-year Pharmacy Assistant Course.
Environmental protection was addressed through amendments to the Boilers and Pressure Vessels Ordinance 2002, banning substandard oil, and further amendments to the Punjab Mining Concession Rules 2002.
The meeting also saw an MoU signed with the World Food Program, amendments made to the Punjab Police Service Rules, an expansion of the Walled City of Lahore Authority’s jurisdiction, leadership changes at the Punjab Provincial Cooperative Bank Limited, and a 15 million euro grant approval for the “Green Energy Project” and solarization of schools and hospitals.
This cabinet meeting highlights the Punjab government’s focus on tackling energy concerns, promoting environmental responsibility, and implementing various administrative reforms.
