The Punjab government, under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, has announced that all public and private schools across the province will observe summer vacations from May 28 to August 14 due to rising temperatures.
According to the official notification, revised school timings (7:30 am to 11:30 am) will remain in effect until May 28 to minimize heat exposure for students and staff.
A senior official from the School Education Department stated that the move follows health advisories and heatwave warnings issued by the PDMA, especially for central and southern Punjab.
“The safety of children is our top priority. This early break is a preventive step against heat-related illnesses,” the official said.
The PDMA has urged the public to avoid outdoor activities during peak hours as extreme temperatures are expected to intensify in the coming days.
