The Punjab government has issued a fresh notification announcing public holidays on February 6 and 7, 2026, in connection with Basant celebrations across the province.

According to the notification dated February 3, 2026, issued by the Services and General Administration Department (Welfare Wing), Friday and Saturday will be observed as public holidays throughout Punjab.

The holidays will apply to all provincial government offices, departments, and institutions. Authorities have directed that the decision be widely publicized through national and regional English and Urdu newspapers, as well as electronic media.

Separately, February 5 will be observed as a public holiday in Punjab to mark Kashmir Day, which is held each year in solidarity with the people of Indian-occupied Kashmir.

With Kashmir Day followed by the Basant-related holidays, government offices in Punjab will remain closed for three consecutive days, from February 5 to February 7.

Earlier, the Punjab government had announced that Basant celebrations would return to Lahore after an 18-year gap, under strict safety regulations. The newly issued notification formally confirms the public holidays linked to the festival.
