Punjab Government Plans Purchase of New Luxury Vehicles for Ministers and VIPs

The Government of Punjab has finalized a major vehicle procurement plan for ministers, bureaucrats, and VIP officials during the current fiscal year.

According to officials, 108 new vehicles will be purchased at an estimated cost of Rs 1.14 billion. The Transport Wing has submitted detailed recommendations for cabinet approval.

For the Punjab Cabinet, 28 new vehicles have been proposed at a total cost of Rs300 million. These include one Toyota Land Cruiser, two Haval 1.5 vehicles, five Toyota Corolla Grand Altis cars, 10 Toyota Altis vehicles, and 10 Toyota Yaris cars, as mentioned in official documents.

Additionally, two bulletproof four-by-four vehicles worth Rs40 million have been approved for two provincial ministers. The government has already granted permission for their procurement.

For VIP security arrangements, recommendations for 25 vehicles costing Rs270 million have also been approved.

According to the documents, vehicles worth Rs530 million will be allocated to the Chief Minister’s Inspection Team. This includes 30 double-cabin vehicles, 11 Toyota Yaris cars, three Toyota Altis vehicles, Suzuki Cultus cars, and motorcycles.

Officials stated that once final approval is granted, the procurement process will formally begin.
