The Punjab government has implemented a work-from-home policy for public and private offices to address escalating air pollution. This policy applies to offices in Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, and Multan divisions. Just 50% of employees will work on-site under the new tactics; the remaining staff will work remotely.

This strategy seeks to reduce commuter pollution and shield locals from the dangerous haze that permeates the area. Punjab’s Senior Minister, Maryam Aurangzeb, presented the government’s comprehensive plan to address the health dangers of the ongoing pollution issue during a press conference in Lahore, where the decision was made. This program is a component of a larger plan to shield public health and lower pollution.
According to Aurangzeb, lowering daily travel and keeping fewer workers on-site will ease traffic and contribute to reducing emissions in severely impacted areas. Government departments have mandated using virtual platforms such as Zoom for meetings and employee communication.
“These temporary restrictions are necessary to address the severe health implications of the persistent smog, which has been exacerbated by cross-border winds carrying pollutants from neighboring regions,” Aurangzeb added.
To reduce the burden on air quality and help safeguard public health, the government has called on all organizations to work together and ensure that the new regulations are followed.
