Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. Usman Anwar has issued a provincewide high alert, directing police units to immediately begin sweep and combing operations across all districts.
The orders were issued during a high-level meeting chaired by Dr. Anwar, who emphasized the need for urgent measures to pre-empt any potential threat. SDPOs and SHOs have been instructed to personally accompany Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) teams and other law-enforcement agencies during these operations.
Security Measures for Educational Institutions
Dr. Anwar directed that CCTV cameras be installed at all entry and exit points of schools, colleges, and universities. He also ordered the deployment of security guards and the establishment of emergency evacuation plans for educational campuses.
To test preparedness, CTD teams, SDPOs, and other security units will conduct mock exercises inside educational institutions throughout the province.
Monitoring, Profiling, and Anti-Terror Measures
The IGP instructed immediate profiling and data verification of individuals arriving from outside Punjab. He also called for regular monitoring of banned organizations, including the TLP, and aggressive door-to-door campaigns to prevent access by terrorists or other malicious elements.
Dr. Anwar highlighted that traffic licensing across Punjab has surged by more than 930% in recent days, reflecting stronger public engagement with police services. He also announced that 3,500 additional promotions within Punjab Police will be processed in the coming days.
