The Punjab government has taken an important step toward land reform by introducing the Green Property Certificate system in eight districts of the province. The move is part of a wider effort to improve land records, protect property ownership, and reduce fraud in land transactions.
In the first phase, the system has been implemented in Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Narowal, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, and Wazirabad. Authorities have confirmed that the program will be expanded to more districts in the coming phases.
The Green Property Certificate will be officially issued by the Punjab government and will serve as verified proof of property ownership. Officials say the system is designed to prevent fake ownership claims, illegal transfers, and manipulation of land records, which have long been a problem in the province.
The Chairman of the Punjab Land Records Authority said the initiative is a major reform that will provide stronger legal protection to property owners. He described the Green Property Certificate as a “game-changing” step that will bring transparency and trust to land dealings.
According to officials, the new certification system will also help reduce land-related disputes by maintaining accurate and secure digital records. This is expected to save time for citizens and courts while making property transactions smoother and more reliable.
The Punjab government believes the initiative will increase public confidence in the land record system and create a more secure environment for property ownership and investment across the province.
