Lahore – March 2025: In a major education reform, the Punjab Board Committee of Chairmen has officially approved the implementation of a 10-point grading system for matriculation and intermediate examinations across the province. The announcement, reported by 24NewsHD TV, marks a significant shift from the traditional numerical marking system to a modern GPA-based evaluation.
Key Highlights of the New Grading System:
- Students will be evaluated on grades and GPA, replacing the conventional marks-based assessment.
- The term “Unsatisfactory” will replace “Fail”, promoting a more progressive academic environment.
- The passing percentage has been increased from 33% to 40% to raise academic standards.
- The reform aims to reduce unhealthy competition and focus on holistic student development.
Phased Rollout:
- Phase 1 (2026): Classes 9 and 11 will transition to the grading system.
- Phase 2 (2027): Classes 10 and 12 will follow suit.
