Punjab authorities have accelerated their efforts against juvenile drivers following the tragic automobile crash that claimed the lives of several members of the same family in an affluent Lahore neighbourhood.
A Punjab police representative provided data about the current campaign of persecution against drivers who are younger than eighteen. He claims that throughout the past week, the province has punished over 19,000 drivers who are underage.
He continued by saying that over 2,100 cases and up to 81,000 fines had been levied against minor drivers so far this year.
Furthermore, 3,500 automobiles have been seized from various police stations throughout the region. However, parents have been cautioned by Punjab’s Inspector General (IG) not to let their children under the age of 18 to operate a motor vehicle.

Additionally, District Traffic Police personnel, RPOs, and DPOs have been instructed to step up the enforcement of the crackdown. Previously, the arrest of unlicensed drivers had been mandated by the Lahore High Court (LHC).
The order was given during the juvenile driver’s case hearing, when six family members were crushed to death. The LHC issued the indiscriminate action order and added that providing someone a killing machine is the same as giving them a car without a licence.
