Punjab Police Prevent 31 TTP Attacks, Neutralize 43 Militants

Punjab Police have successfully foiled 31 attempted attacks by the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), also known as Khawarij, across the province over the past one and a half years. According to official sources, 22 of these terror plots were intercepted in the Dera Ghazi Khan district, while nine were thwarted in Mianwali, showcasing the effectiveness of the province’s counter-terrorism operations.

The police reported that 43 foreign terrorists were killed in retaliatory action during these operations. However, the crackdown was not without cost, as 15 police personnel sustained serious injuries while confronting the Khawarij militants.

Inspector General of Police Punjab Usman Anwar lauded the efforts of the police force, describing the outcomes as “impressive,” and reaffirmed the department’s unwavering vigilance against the threat of terrorism. He stated that police check posts in border regions have been significantly reinforced to deter infiltration attempts.

The IGP emphasized the modernization of border security infrastructure, revealing that police posts have been upgraded with state-of-the-art thermal imaging cameras, modern weaponry, and advanced surveillance technology. Personnel stationed at key tri-border areas have been instructed to maintain high alert to preempt potential threats, ensuring maximum security across Punjab’s vulnerable zones.
