The Punjab government’s Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department has announced the closure of medical universities, colleges, nursing colleges, and allied health schools across the province from March 10 to March 31, 2026.

According to an official notification issued on March 9, all public and private medical institutions operating under the department will remain closed during this period.

However, academic activities for first and second-year MBBS students will continue through online classes. In contrast, third, fourth, and final year MBBS students will continue attending their classes, clinical attachments, and examinations as per the existing schedule.

These students will follow the previously announced timetable for both academic and clinical training. The notification also confirmed that all examinations will take place according to the already announced schedule.

At the same time, teaching staff, along with nursing and allied health students, will continue performing their duties in affiliated hospitals in line with the notified schedules.

The department has directed heads of all institutions to ensure strict compliance with these instructions and to make necessary arrangements for implementing the decision, which has been approved by the competent authority.
