Beloved Punjabi actor and comedian Jaswinder Bhalla passed away on Friday at the age of 65.
He had been admitted to Fortis Hospital, where he died early in the morning, according to hospital officials. His funeral will take place on Saturday at the Balongi crematorium in Mohali.
Bhalla entertained audiences for nearly three decades with his sharp wit and unforgettable characters. Starting out with stage shows and comedy albums in the 1980s and 1990s, he later moved to films. He made his mark in movies like Dulha Bhatti and Jaspal Bhatti’s Mahaul Theek Hai before becoming a regular face in Punjabi blockbusters. His comic role as Advocate Dhillon in the Carry On Jatta series made him a household name.
He leaves behind his wife Paramdeep, a fine arts teacher, and son Pukhraj Bhalla, who followed in his footsteps as an actor. The father-son duo appeared together in the 2013 film Stupid 7.
Fans and fellow actors have been sharing tributes, remembering Jaswinder Bhalla not only as a brilliant comedian but also as someone who brought warmth and heart to Punjabi cinema. His legacy, they say, will continue to inspire for years to come.
