Qatar Asserts Right to Retaliate After Iranian Attack on US Airbase

According to a statement from the Qatari Foreign Ministry, Iran fired missiles at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, the biggest US airfield in the Middle East and home to some 10,000 personnel. It also acts as the forward headquarters for US Central Command.

The statement said: “The State of Qatar strongly condemns the Iranian Revolutionary Guard attack that targeted Al-Udeid Air Base. We believe that this is a blatant breach of the United Nations Charter, international law, the sovereignty of the State of Qatar, and its airspace.

In accordance with international law, we reaffirm Qatar’s right to a direct response commensurate with the scope and character of this egregious attack.” Iranian missiles intercepted “We are confident that the attack was successfully stopped and that the Iranian missiles were intercepted by Qatar’s air defenses. The Ministry of Defense will subsequently release a comprehensive explanation of the attack’s circumstances.

We also stress that the region’s security and stability will be threatened by the continuance of such escalating military operations, which could lead to dire repercussions for global peace and security.”

Demand diplomacy: “We demand that all military operations end immediately and that there be a sincere return to the negotiating table and conversation.

In addition, the State of Qatar was among the first nations to issue a warning about the risks of Israeli aggression in the area. We have repeatedly emphasized the value of good neighborliness and preventing escalation, and we have asked for diplomatic solutions to be given priority.

We reiterate that the only way to resolve the present issues and guarantee regional security and peace is through discussion.”

No fatalities

Given the tensions in the area, the base had already been evacuated in accordance with existing security and preventative measures. Personnel at the base, including members of the Qatari Armed Forces and friendly forces, were kept secure by taking all required precautions. We certify that the attack did not cause any harm or human casualties.

In a statement, Iran’s top security council said that the number of bombs used by its military was equal to the number used by the United States in its attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities. Additionally, it stated that the US installation was located far from Qatari residential areas and urban amenities.

According to the Iranian Supreme National Security Council, the missile strike against Qatar’s residential areas did not target Al Udeid Air Base. The council issued a statement saying, “The Islamic Republic of Iran remains committed to maintaining and continuing warm and historic relations with Qatar, and this action does not pose any threat to the friendly and brotherly country, Qatar, and its noble people.”
