Quetta Gladiators Cruise Into PSL X Final as Chandimal, Bowlers Dominate

Dinesh Chandimal’s unbeaten 48 off 28 balls and a strong bowling performance helped Quetta Gladiators secure a 30-run win over Islamabad United on Wednesday at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, booking their spot in the final of the Pakistan Super League Season 10 (PSL X).

Quetta Gladiators’ Innings

Batting first, Quetta posted a solid total of 209-6. Despite losing three quick wickets in the powerplay, including Saud Shakeel (12), Rilee Rossouw (16), and Hasan Nawaz (6), the team recovered well.

Finn Allen got the innings off to a flying start with a quick 41 off 27 balls, hitting six boundaries in the powerplay. After his dismissal by Imad Wasim, Avishka Fernando added momentum with a 32 off 21 before being removed by Shadab Khan.

The real fireworks came from Dinesh Chandimal, who remained not out on 48 off 28 balls, and Faheem Ashraf, who blasted 45 off just 23. The duo powered Quetta past the 200 mark in the closing overs.

Islamabad United’s Innings

Chasing 210, Islamabad United were bowled out for 179 with just two balls remaining. They never looked in full control of the chase despite solid efforts from Sahibzada Farhan (52), Salman Ali Agha (44), and Rassie van der Dussen (35).

United suffered early setbacks, including the dismissal of captain Shadab Khan, who fell to a stunning catch by Saud Shakeel off Abrar Ahmed’s bowling. Faheem Ashraf also struck with the ball, dismissing Alex Hales early in the innings.

Quetta’s bowlers shared the load well:

  • Usman Tariq picked up 3 wickets for 32 runs.
  • Mohammad Amir, Faheem Ashraf, and Mohammad Wasim took 2 wickets each.
  • Abrar Ahmed chipped in with 1 wicket, while Saud Shakeel bowled economically but went wicketless.

For United, Ben Dwarshuis (2-31) and Salman Irshad (2-34) were the top bowlers. Shadab and Imad claimed a wicket each, while James Neesham and Naseem Shah went wicketless.

What’s Next

With this win, Quetta Gladiators move on to the final of PSL X. Meanwhile, Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings will face off in Eliminator 1 on May 22, also at Gaddafi Stadium.
