Islamabad: According to a news source on February 12, Pakistan Railways has increased its attempts to recover a sizeable chunk of roughly 13,972 acres of fraudulently acquired land, which is worth billions of PKR.
The information reveals that 1,181 acres are inhabited in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 5,948 acres are in Sindh, 1,034 acres are in Balochistan, and 5,809 acres are in Punjab. The land that has been illegally occupied falls into multiple categories, such as commercial, residential, and agricultural land, and is governed by distinct individuals or agencies.

In particular, 7,69 acres are set aside for business use, 3,309 acres for residential use, 5,512 acres for farming, and 4,382 acres that are encroached upon by different parties.
The representative went on to say that the department has decided to step up its national anti-encroachment campaign against land usurpers in order to retrieve the land from people, organizations, and companies that have used it for commercial, residential, or agricultural purposes over the years.
As a result, the corresponding divisions start anti-encroachment operations to recover encroached railway land throughout the railway network. Encroachers are sent notifications under the Possession Ordinance 1965, which requires them to remove any constructions or railway land within 14 days.
