Prime Minister’s Adviser on Political and Public Affairs Rana Sanaullah has said that Imran Khan’s political influence may soon come to an end.
Speaking at a public gathering in Gujranwala, Sanaullah strongly criticized Khan’s performance as prime minister, his relationship with the establishment, and the internal situation within PTI.
He said that the country faced serious problems during Khan’s time in office and claimed that former army chief General Qamar Bajwa was partly responsible for some key decisions. He also said that Nawaz Sharif had avoided criticizing state institutions, unlike PTI’s leadership.
Sanaullah claimed that Khan’s relationship with the establishment worsened when he tried to target political opponents. According to him, Khan asked institutions to act against his rivals, which created serious tension.
He further accused Khan of trying to pressure the establishment to gain political support through blackmail.
Claims of Internal Division in PTI
Sanaullah said that around 85 percent of PTI members no longer fully support Khan’s political direction. He warned that PTI’s style of politics is becoming controversial and is unlikely to succeed.
He added that extremist political slogans have damaged PTI’s public image and will not be accepted by the majority of the public.
Sanaullah predicted that the party could split, saying that about 10 to 15 percent of members may join a breakaway faction, while most PTI members will continue on a different political path away from controversial politics.
