British authorities have formally closed the rape case against Pakistani cricketer Haider Ali after investigators found insufficient evidence to proceed.

The young batter, who was arrested two weeks after the allegation surfaced, will have his passport returned and can now travel freely in and out of the United Kingdom.

Police had earlier requested more time to examine the complaint but were unable to substantiate any charges.

The decision clears the path for Haider Ali to continue his cricket career without legal hurdles.
