Rawalpindi police have launched a city-wide inspection campaign targeting violations of the Tenancy Act, focusing on both residential and commercial areas.
According to officials, the ongoing operation includes shop-to-shop and house-to-house checks to ensure tenants and employees are properly registered. Over the past three days, authorities have registered 33 cases and detained 51 individuals for failing to comply with the law.
The crackdown is being carried out on the instructions of City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Mahmood Hamdani. A police spokesperson said that daily search operations are underway, with senior officers closely monitoring tenant registration reports.
Police have urged citizens to register tenants and employees immediately through their nearest police station, Police Khidmat Markaz, or via the Punjab Police mobile app. Residents have also been encouraged to report any violations.
Officials emphasized that failure to register tenants is a punishable offense. As part of the campaign, police are also collecting verification certificates from union councils, local representatives, and market associations across the city to strengthen monitoring and enforcement.
