Rawalpindi Ring Road Project: PKR 30.5m Recovered from Landowners
Media sources in Islamabad said that the Land Revenue Department (LRD) has collected PKR 30.5 million out of PKR 40 million from landowners who were paid by the government in Rawalpindi and Attock for the construction of Rawalpindi Ring Road.

Naib Tehsildar Saqib Rehan briefed ADCR Usman on the recovery progress throughout the meeting. He said that the special teams had visited 32 Rawalpindi villages and spoke with the landowners in order to recoup the government’s payment. During the discussion, ADCR Usman urged the team to expedite the recovery process by working around the clock.
It should be noted that the government is recouping funds given to landowners whose land was seized for the changed route of the Rawalpindi Ring Road, which has now been rejected due to higher project costs and an unfair advantage to specific housing projects.

According to the senior officer of LRD, the special teams are having trouble recovering the funds because the landowners have collected the money from the government but do not have proof of land ownership.
