One of the city’s most eagerly awaited and crucial infrastructure projects, the Ring Road improves accessibility, travel, and commuting for both Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Following several delays, route changes, and other setbacks, the project officially began in September 2023.
Commissioner Rawalpindi Liaquat Ali Chatta recently paid a visit to the Rawalpindi Ring Road site to evaluate the level of development. He went to the Adyala Road location of Khasala Khurd, where an interchange is planned. The FWO development officials briefed him on the project’s status.
In addition, he was informed of the Ring Road’s approximate 38.3-kilometer length and the total number of interchanges. The Ring Road route will have a total of 5 interchanges. It is noteworthy to mention that work has already begun in a number of district administration-owned areas. The most prominent area is the vicinity of Chakri Road, where work has already begun. Additionally, land is being acquired in a number of the communities along this highway’s path.

Commissioner Liaquat Ali expressed his satisfaction with the rate of RRR development and predicted that, if work keeps up this pace, the project will be finished in a year. Additionally, RDA plans an industrial zone along the Ring Road’s edges. This road will lessen traffic congestion on city streets and increase accessibility to various parts of Rawalpindi.
The PKR 4 billion needed for this project’s development has not yet been released by the provincial government. On a 10-kilometre area that is owned by the district government, however, the developer has already begun construction.
