RCCI Wants Industrial Zones Along Ring Road
The business community in Rawalpindi has requested that the district administration develop industrial and economic zones along the proposed Rawalpindi Ring Road, where wholesale markets and bus terminals will be relocated.
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ali made the request during a meeting with the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI).
President of the RCCI Nadeem Rauf updated the deputy commissioner on the chamber’s ongoing activities. He suggested establishing industrial and economic zones around the ring road.
He stated that by relocating the wholesale markets and bus/truck terminals along the ring road, city traffic might be decreased. He stated that it was imperative to relocate bus stations outside of urban areas.
The leader of the group, Sohail Altaf, suggested that Rawalpindi be established as a model city. Rawalpindi possesses an advantageous strategic location. The link between Kashmir, KP, Punjab, and Gilgit-Baltistan is vital for an economic corridor.

According to him, the local economy would grow with the creation of industrial zones along the ring road. He stated that Rawalpindi should also be the site of an exhibition center.
Anjuman-i-Tajiran representatives also discussed encroachments in the city, parking, and heavy vehicle-related traffic difficulties.
