RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) recently sealed an office, a plaza, and six businesses on Gulraiz Housing Scheme Road as part of an operation against unauthorised commercial structures.
Targeting unauthorised commercial structures, this crackdown was carried out in coordination with the Airport police and was authorised by Section 39 of the Punjab Development of Cities (PDC) Act 1976.
An RDA representative stated that warnings were sent to the property owners warning them of violations of approved plans, maps, and the PDC Act 1976 before legal action was taken.

In violation of the RDA Building and Zoning Regulations 2020, these unlicensed commercial buildings had been erected without the required approvals and No Objection Certificates (NOCs).
The RDA has stated unethical economic activity, unauthorised development, or encroachments will not be tolerated.
Additionally, it has been mandated that the Land Use and Building Control (LU&BC) Wing take strict actions without bias or hesitancy.

The development Control Wing has also been tasked with carrying out a thorough investigation to establish costs for sanctioning illegal residential and commercial structures, commercialization, and complementing development plans under the RDA’s purview.
