As temperatures continue to drop, the number of people suffering from respiratory problems has risen sharply, causing a shortage of environmental allergy vaccines at the National Institute of Health (NIH).

According to reports on Wednesday, allergy centres are now only able to offer testing services, and hundreds of patients from across the country are returning home without receiving their vaccines.

The NIH normally needs more than 600 vaccine doses per day for patients arriving from different cities. People suffering from asthma, flu, cold, eye allergies, and throat or breathing issues are currently unable to get the vaccine.

The number of patients waiting for the allergy vaccine has reached 4,000, and each dose costs Rs 1,000.

Dr. Mohammad Salman, CEO of the NIH, confirmed the shortage. He explained that a chemical problem had delayed the final production stage of the vaccine. He assured the public that some vaccines are still available and that full supply will be restored soon.
